Demi Moore has captivated audiences with her incredible talent and undeniable screen presence throughout her successful career. From heart-wrenching dramas to action-packed thrillers, Moore’s diverse range and memorable performances have firmly established her as one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actresses. Being easy on the eye also helped quite a bit.
We’ll journey all the way back to Moore’s breakthrough performance in Ghost to her iconic portrayal of a badass former secret agent in Charlie’s Angels. All this time, Moore has continuously pushed boundaries, defying stereotypes and crafting complex, great characters that we love to see. Especially when it comes to scenes that have changed the lives of young boys and girls.
1. Ghost (1990)
In the iconic romance, Moore portrays Molly Jensen, a grieving artist whose world is shattered when her lover, Sam Wheat (played by Patrick Swayze), is tragically murdered. Moore’s portrayal beautifully captures Molly’s emotional journey as she navigates love, loss, and the supernatural. Her chemistry with Swayze and his ghost has made the movie an all-time classic for a whole generation. And oh boy, you cannot forget the timeless song and the sultry pottery scene. Oof, that’s hot!
2. Disclosure (1994)
In Disclosure, Demi Moore plays the character of Meredith Johnson, an ambitious executive who finds herself entangled in a high-stakes battle of power, manipulation, and sexual harassment. She basically files a false sexual harassment claim for her ex, played by Michael Douglas, and watches the whole company go crazy. The 90s were very big on erotic thrillers, and Disclosure is one of the better ones, thanks to Moore.
3. G.I. Jane (1997)
Taking on the role of Lieutenant Jordan O’Neil, Moore embodies the fierce spirit of a woman challenging gender barriers in the male-dominated world of the Navy SEALs. Her physical and emotional transformation throughout the film is nothing less than remarkable, showcasing her dedication and commitment to the role, including actually shaving her head. She definitely was not afraid to show the world what she’s got.
4. Indecent Proposal (1993)
In her role as Diana Murphy, Moore exudes a magnetic allure that captivates both her on-screen husband, played by Woody Harrelson, and the audience. Her on-screen chemistry with the adventurous billionaire, played by Robert Redford, adds an extra layer of intensity to the film. In reality, it’s a cautionary tale about selling your wife to some jerk with bags of money. Don’t do that. But do watch the movie.
5. St. Elmo’s Fire (1985)
Intoxicating charm and raw confidence exuded from Moore’s portrayal of Jules – a free-spirited woman grappling with personal demons. Her on-screen chemistry with Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez added an electric spark to the film, but the underlining problems of becoming adults in a cruel world are at the forefront of the story. Failed romances, unrequited feelings, personal drama, and other issues make a person grow up and develop defensive mechanisms much faster.
6. About Last Night. . . (1986)
Moore did not shy away from taking part in piquant scenes when she started acting, and certain moments in About Last Night are filled with sex appeal. With her captivating beauty, Moore brought a seductive charm to the screen. Let’s just say that she and Rob Lowe’s one-night stand leads to something much more than either of the parties would have expected.
7. Striptease (1996)
The movie is titled Striptease, for god’s sake, it’s no wonder it flopped harder than a fish out of water. But it doesn’t mean Demi Moore wasn’t giving that role her best effort. She skillfully navigates the complexities of Erin’s journey, capturing her determination, resilience, and ultimately her empowerment, not to mention the choreography. She nailed that part.
8. Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003)
Full Throttle is probably the only movie where Demi Moore plays a villain, and her charisma is the best thing about that piece of trash movie. Moore brought a seductive and enigmatic energy to the screen, and her portrayal of the cunning former Angel doubled down on bringing in the viewers to the cinemas at whatever cost necessary. It’s astonishing that Demi still looks amazing in a swimsuit and kicks butt in her 40s like she’s 20, proving that no matter the age, badass women will always prevail.
